Quite often something good will come from bad, even if it's later on. So yes, probably have been some benefits, but I'll be fucked if I'm gonna sit here and rack me brains just so I can put them up on here. What a pointless fucking exercise.

Re: Benefits of the pandemic
Obviously I would rather it had not have happened but in the first lockdown and this is still the case now, more people down our road now speak too and look put for each other. We also saved a ridiculous amount of money due to not travelling to/from work and not going out, we managed to buy a few new things for the house without feeling the cost. My main one was the extra time spent with my little girl.

Starting a (small) business i/was generally seen as a good thing as it created additional wealth within society, however, if such a business has contracts with the government (local or central) I would fully expect the awarding/continuation of such contracts to become depended on proving that everybody in that company has a valid Covid passport - as do those in any company that supplies such a business - and that could include fully remote, totally outsourced IT support.

Traffic was great in the first lockdown. Was going round the lakes and north wales in blazing sunshine and no other cunt on the road (usually gridlocked at first sign of sunshine)

Built up a little home gym. Probably wouldn't have ever bothered if it weren't for threat of lockdowns

Seen a few MATES who lost their jobs etc start up their own businesses and are doing pretty well for themselves, which is nice to see

More and more people are slowly coming round to the worldview that politicians generally only serve themselves and the news is almost all complete bollocks, and are acting accordingly

Got miles more spare money than I used to have. I must save £250 a month on the commute, £30 or £40 a month on dry cleaning and I do not go out as much now even now. I would be happy for it to be all over now though.

Not really found that. For work, I never say no, but often say I cant right now if they are a Senior they will find something I am doing and stop/re-allocate something else.

At home and personal: Do I care what they think about me and 'Is this all one way?' have been applied and in several cases have provided immediate reasons to say no thank you.

You're dead in trouble now.

Don't you realise that you've got (GOT) to be told what to do and when to do it by the experts/government and not make your own decisions - whatever?

It's for the good of everyone as a whole, old chap.

Re: Benefits of the pandemic

Sometimes it is very hard to say "no" in any relationship, including work. By saying it you leave yourself open to unwarrented accusations of being 'awkward" or "lazy" or "selfish" or "rude" or "ignorant" etc, but you have to protect yourself because many people will use your good nature for their own benefit.
Saying no is bloody hard

I have realised how much rushing around I used to do entirely based on a FOMO/feelings of others (insignficant others)

I now have less in my social diary, yet more with important people in my life and I say no thank you, not for me a lot more.

Went off work on 9th March 2020 and started my furlough which lasted until 9th September 2021 then I retired.
Couldn't work from home doing my usual job, so was given some menial tasks which only lasted six months.
Spent the rest of my time doing DIY.
Happiest days of my working life
